Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive at Bagdogra

Welcome to the Hills

Land at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station, where your driver awaits to whisk you off to the “Queen of Hills”, Darjeeling. The 3-hour drive winds through misty forests, rolling tea estates, and sleepy mountain villages that make you feel like you’ve entered another world. Every turn teases the Himalayas, and by the time you reach, the air smells like pine and possibility.

First Taste of Darjeeling Vibes

Check into your hotel and take a breather. Later, step out to explore Mall Road, the social heart of Darjeeling. Try steaming hot momos, sip on authentic Darjeeling tea, and people-watch as the fog slowly rolls through the hills. By evening, wrap yourself in a blanket, listen to the distant sound of toy trains, and just let the mountain calm sink in.

Overnight stay in Darjeeling.

Day 2 – Darjeeling Sightseeing & Sunrise at Tiger Hill

Sunrise Goals in Tiger Hill

Set that alarm before dawn, because Tiger Hill’s sunrise is one you don’t sleep through. As the first rays hit Kanchenjunga, the sky goes from lilac to gold, and for a moment, the whole crowd goes silent. It’s one of those rare travel moments that feels both cinematic and spiritual.

Tea, Rocks & Heritage Stops

After breakfast, dive into a full-day tour of Darjeeling’s finest, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, and the Tenzing & Gombu Rocks, where mountaineers practice their climbs. You’ll also pass by one of the region’s famous Tea Estates, the kind of place that makes you want to switch careers and become a tea taster.

Peace & Pagodas

Wrap up your day with a visit to the Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda, where prayer flags flutter against the skyline and tranquility reigns supreme. Return to your hotel by evening, tired but totally content.

Overnight stay in Darjeeling.

Day 3 – Drive to Gangtok & Half-Day Local Tour

Roadtrip to the Capital of Calm

After breakfast, it’s time to trade tea gardens for the sleek slopes of Gangtok. The drive is scenic, think river valleys, mountain curves, and cascading waterfalls that beg for photo stops. The moment you reach Gangtok, you’ll feel its clean, organized, and effortlessly cool energy.1

Culture & Craft Crawl

Post check-in, set off on a half-day local exploration, visit the Flower Show Centre with its vivid orchids, explore the Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom, and stop by the Institute of Tibetology, which beautifully preserves Buddhist art and manuscripts. The vibe here is peaceful, spiritual, and just a bit artsy.

Evening on MG Marg

As night falls, take a stroll through MG Marg, the pedestrian-only street that feels like Gangtok’s living room. Cafés, fairy lights, street music, it’s all there. Grab a cup of coffee or Thukpa, and let the chill mountain air do its thing.

Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 4 – Excursion to Changu Lake & New Baba Mandir

High-Altitude Adventure

Gear up for one of the most stunning drives in Sikkim, a journey to Changu Lake (12,400 ft). The lake sits surrounded by snowy peaks and ancient legends. Its icy-blue waters mirror the clouds, and yes, it’s as photogenic as your Instagram feed deserves.

A Soldier’s Legend – New Baba Mandir

Next, head to the New Baba Mandir, built in memory of an Indian Army soldier, Baba Harbhajan Singh, whose spirit locals believe still protects the region. The place carries an aura of pride and peace, mixing history with heartfelt folklore.

Evening Chill Back in Gangtok

Return to Gangtok by evening, relax at your hotel, and maybe hit up a local café for some momos or hot chocolate. You’ve earned that cozy downtime after a day at 12,000+ feet!

Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 5 – Departure from Gangtok

Last Breakfast with a View

Wake up to one final Himalayan sunrise, sip your morning tea slowly, and take in that crisp air you’ll miss the moment you leave.

Homebound but Heart Full

After breakfast, check out and drive back to Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station for your onward journey. As the mountains fade from your rearview mirror, the peace and magic of Sikkim & Darjeeling stay etched in your memory, and maybe, in your wallpaper too.
